About Dave Lungren

Dave Lungren is a son of the Sunflower State. He grew up on a farm just a mile west or so of the historic Chisholm Trail, and a few miles north of the rowdy cowtown Caldwell, Kansas, AKA the Border Queen. Less than two miles from Indian Territory, Caldwell was also a staging area for the Land Run of 1893 (See Cherokee Strip). Dave Lungren was raised in a land rich in history so perhaps it’s in his DNA. All the more reason perhaps that he is happy to narrate this historical fiction, The Bull, the Boy, and the Buffalo Robe.

After several formative years in south central Kansas he moved to the northeastern part of the state: Anderson County, then Wyandotte County, spending forty-two years as a teacher, working with sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. Although it was in the same “neighborhood” he and his life partner of nearly thirty years, Ty, moved to the Missouri side of that invisible line in the Kansas City area in 2010. He assures us that he can still see Kansas from his backyard, but becoming one of those “Border Ruffians”, those “Bushwackers” we speak so poorly of while teaching Kansas history in seventh grade has been somewhat problematic, he’s adjusting.

We hope you enjoy enjoy CHAPTER FIFTEEN!
